It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the official website of the Irish Cigarette Machine Operators Association (ICMOA). We were established over 30 years ago and today, represent over 60 members in Ireland. We operate across the country installing and servicing cigarette vending machines in hotels, pubs, restaurants and retail outlets.

Over the years, the vending industry has faced many challenges. We continue to face strict regulation day in and day out, all of which we fully comply with. However, the potential legislative measures expected in 2014 and years ahead, such as the proposed increased licence fee, ban on vending and the suggestion to introduce plain packaging, would be hugely detrimental to the operations of the vending industry.

Our website allows you, the viewer, to find more information about the industry and what we do. Our website also gives us a voice in a market that regularly comes under fire and attack. We have built up our businesses and this organisation over the years and take pride in the work that we do. You’ll see from our facts and figures page what we contribute significantly to this economy; an estimated €175 million per annum. In the early 2000’s, the ICMOA were at the forefront of working alongside government to establish and introduce the ICMOA Adults Only token which made Ireland one of the first countries in the world to use an age-control system for cigarette vending machines. This helped ensure that minors could not access tobacco through vending machines and was so effective that it was adopted into legislation some years later. We will continue to work closely with all stakeholders and government to prevent children from smoking.
